A Warm Welcome to Huxlow

At Huxlow we believe that students who are happy, feel safe and are taught well will enjoy school and as a result be successful.

We are passionate about caring for our students, ensuring that they are all known as individuals. Ofsted June 2016 stated that “everyone in the school puts pupil’s well-being at the centre of everything they do”.

Students are challenged to be as good as they possibly can be and supported to achieve this. Academic success is hugely important to us and we have a rich history of students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds achieving as well as they could.

However, schools are about far more than academic success and we believe that developing “The Whole Child” is one of our core responsibilities. In order to enjoy a successful adult life it is important that our students develop characteristics such as leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative, and communication.

Book Fair Coming to Huxlow!

Celebrate reading at our Scholastic Book Fair! The Book Fair will be arriving in school soon, with hundreds of new children’s books to browse and buy. Come and join us!

WHEN: 21st – 24th & 27th November after school each day from 3.15pm – 4.00pm and during the Tutor Evening on Wednesday 22nd November 6.00pm – 9.00pm

Year 7, 8 & 9 students will also be visiting the Book Fair during an English/Library lesson.

WHERE: Huxlow Science College in the Corridor leading to the Hall

Invitations with a small selection to order from will be coming home with students – any orders from this leaflet should be taken with payment to the Library. There are over 200 titles for you and your child to choose from at the Book Fair, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone. If you can’t make it to our Book Fair, try our discounted Gift Vouchers available at bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents. These come in various values – from a £6 voucher that costs £5 to a £30 voucher that costs £25. They’re a great way to ensure your child doesn’t miss out. Books make great Christmas presents too! You can pay by cash, cheque or by credit card using your mobile phone.
