A Warm Welcome to Huxlow

Welcome to Huxlow Science College

At Huxlow Science College we believe that school days are precious and form the foundations for our students’ future lives. We have a determination to ensure that our students are given the best possible opportunities to succeed both academically and as young people who are an asset to the communities in which they live. Our community is rightly very proud of our school, our students and their successes. We have a rich history of students of all abilities and backgrounds fulfilling their potential in all areas of their education and they are supported and challenged daily to gain the skills, confidence and qualifications they will need to be successful in an ever-changing world.

We pride ourselves on the levels of support and guidance we offer our students and place students and their needs at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to ensure students are happy, feel safe and are taught well. Developing ‘The Whole Child’ is one of our core responsibilities and our students are challenged to aim for the highest personal and academic standards. We have high expectations of behaviour and respect across our community and forge excellent relationships with both students and parents.

I am hugely proud to be the Headteacher of Huxlow Science College and to lead the school as we build on recent increases in both student numbers and exam results. It is such a privilege to be entrusted with the lives of the young people in our community, to shape their characters and enable their success.

We look forward to welcoming all prospective students, parents and carers to experience all that is Huxlow in the very near future.

Exam Results 2021

Excellent post-16 results at Huxlow Science College

Students at Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough are today (August 10th) celebrating some outstanding A Level and BTEC results.

Year on year, Huxlow students achieve exceptional post-16 results in Science and other curriculum areas, and this year is no exception, with the high grades across the curriculum. BTEC vocational students performed particularly well in Sport and Applied Science.

Fantastic results in BTEC including Triple Distinction stars have paved the way to courses such as Masters of Nursing, Biomedical science, Social work and Sport and exercise science. Excellent A level results have enabled students to study Psychological and Behavioral Sciences, Nursing, Medicine, Business, Chemistry, Aerospace, Criminology, Teaching, Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Fashion Business and Management, Product Design and Technology at amazing universities such as Cambridge, Glasgow, Leeds, York, Nottingham, along with other competitive universities such as Loughborough and Birmingham, Bristol, Kings College London and London Met.

In light of the Teacher Assessed grades awarded this year, students and staff have been resilient and relentless in terms of their commitment to their studies. We are delighted that students who have studied towards their A Levels and BTECs for two years in unprecedented times have achieved the outcomes that they deserve. It is down to the hard work of both students and staff. We have offered high quality careers advice to ensure that all students have studied courses that are well tailored to their talents and aspirations.

The Ferrers School, Huxlow and Rushden work together as The East Northants College (TENC) for Post 16 Studies and have an excellent tradition of success.

Huxlow Science College congratulates their students on receiving the results they deserve.

Huxlow staff would like to congratulate our students on receiving the results that they deserve in this very difficult time. It has been an unprecedented year for receiving results of their three year GCSE course, and a culmination of their school education. We are pleased that finally, the outcome is as it should be for our students. We are extremely proud of our GCSE students and pleased that the outcomes reflect the high level of dedication they have shown to their studies. Staff and students have risen to the challenge this year with outstanding commitment and resilience.

Here at Huxlow, we focus on developing the whole child as well as celebrating academic achievement. We are confident that all of our students are prepared to go on and do well in the adult world.

We are looking forward to supporting students through their next phase of education here at our sixth form and on the next part of their journey.
