Head's Welcome

A Warm Welcome to Huxlow

At Huxlow we believe that students who are happy, feel safe and are taught well will enjoy school and as a result be successful.

We are passionate about caring for our students, ensuring that they are all known as individuals. Ofsted June 2016 stated that “everyone in the school puts pupil’s well-being at the centre of everything they do”.

Students are challenged to be as good as they possibly can be and supported to achieve this. Academic success is hugely important to us and we have a rich history of students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds achieving as well as they could.

However, schools are about far more than academic success and we believe that developing “The Whole Child” is one of our core responsibilities. In order to enjoy a successful adult life it is important that our students develop characteristics such as leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative, and communication.

I am hugely proud of our school and am happy to extend an invitation to all Parents/ Carers to come and visit us during the school day. Please contact us on enquiries@huxlow.northants.sch.uk and we will arrange a convenient time.

Huxlow Rocks!! Creative community art project launched

Rocks 17 1000x600px

Huxlow Rocks is a fun, creative, community art project bringing a little magic and mystery to our local community. Huxlow students have been decorating rocks and on the reverse they have written "Facebook Huxlow Rocks! Hide me or keep me! Please upload a photo". The painted rocks will be hidden around our local town and villages. Those who are lucky enough to find one are asked to post a picture of it to the Facebook group. The whole community are invited to join in and get creative making their own or posting their rock pictures to the online group.

Inspired by “Norfolk Rocks”, a community group on Facebook with 40,000 participants, and similar groups nationwide, Mrs E Wright, Head of Art at Huxlow Science College started up “Huxlow Rocks” in September 2017. All Year 7 students were invited to take part, as well as younger students from local primary schools who visited for Open Evening in October. A group has been set up on Facebook called “Huxlow Rocks” which is the hub of the project.

With almost 100 rocks ready to go, the project was officially launched on Monday 20 November 2017. Mrs Wright and some of the students involved were interviewed on BBC Radio Northampton and for the Northants Telegraph. They then took their rocks out into the community, ready to be found!

And now it’s over to you! Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part in this wonderful community project. Please decorate your own rock; something abstract, some text or really show off those professional art skills! Anything that will brighten somebody’s day! On the reverse, please write "Facebook Huxlow Rocks! Hide me or keep me! Please upload a photo". Then join the group and see if you can spot your rock, or upload a photo if you find somebody else’s.
