TENC students celebrate A-level and BTEC success 2022
Excellent post-16 results at Huxlow Science College
Students at Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough are today (August 18th) celebrating some fantastic A Level and BTEC results.
Year on year, Huxlow students achieve exceptional post-16 results across a broad range of curriculum areas, and this year is no exception. BTEC vocational students performed particularly well and a high percentage of students who applied to university have accepted a place at one of their first choices.
These results are a credit to this resilient year group who have overcome so many challenges during their school years. To achieve these grades and successes in the first formal examinations they have been able to sit is a real testament to their commitment and hard work, alongside the excellent support and teaching they have received from the Huxlow and TENC staff.
Superb results in BTEC including Triple Distinction stars have paved the way to a range of high level courses. Excellent A level results including a quadruple A* have enabled students to go and study at many Russel group and other competitive universities, including Engineering at Cambridge, and Sport and exercise Science, and Chemistry at Durham.
Such successes are down to the hard work of both students and staff. We have offered high quality careers advice to ensure that all students have studied courses that are well tailored to their talents and aspirations. This has resulted in students gaining entry to prestigious Russell Group universities as well as sought-after apprenticeships, further education and employment prospects.
Huxlow Science College, The Ferrers School and Rushden Academy work together to create a unique post-16 learning community, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), combining the strengths of the three schools. With a long and excellent tradition of success, TENC offers students from across East Northamptonshire the widest range of courses in the County.

“This groups of students overcame so many challenges as they prepared for these exams and we are very proud of the way they rose to meet these challenges, and of the results that they have achieved. We are particularly proud of the very positive results achieved across the maths, languages and sport departments, and that the progress achieved across the school has been maintained at pre-pandemic levels.
“It is a testament to the hard work and resilience of staff and students throughout these turbulent years that students are now able to progress onto their planned next stages of education, work and training. The school is looking forward to the new term as it joins the Tove Learning Trust and reopens as Huxlow Academy in September.
