Sixth Form Courses

One Trust, Two Schools, One Vision of Excellence

At Huxlow & Rushden Academy Sixth Form, all students follow a study programme that is tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.  We provide students with a unique opportunity to study a combination of A Levels and vocational courses to meet the needs and aspirations of the students we serve.  Any students who have not acheived the required level in English and Maths GCSE are expected to attend timetabled lessons to help them to work towards the acheivement of these qualifications.

The sixth form study programme also includes a substantial amount of non-qualification activity, including weekly tutorials, work experience, study skills, and study support.  Students are also offered the opportunity to access a wide range of accredited and non-accredited enrichment activities, including Level 3 EPQ, Core Maths, Dof E, charity and volunteer work.

All students are expected to achieve the goal of a minimum of ten hours work experience during their time in the sixth form.  There are also a number of 'next step' career and work-related opportunities such as the annual Futures Week, industry specific career talks, ,HE briefings and univeristy masterclasses.  To ensure we are meeting the needs of each individual, all students will have a meeting with a career advisor.

All students at Huxlow and Rushden Academy Sixth Form are expected to strive for 100% attendance.  Any student whose attendance falls below 90% will be subject to appropriate disciplinary proceedings which will be decided by the Director of Sixth Form.  This may result in a studnet losing their place in the sixth form.

Courses are delivered across both the Huxlow Academy and Rushden Academy sites, or may be split by year group at different sites.
