Huxlow PE Vision
Physical Education at Huxlow Academy provides our students the opportunity and freedom to develop themselves and their peers in a practical setting. Core PE allows our students to investigate, practice, develop and embed their physical skills, physical fitness, knowledge and leadership through participation in a diverse and challenging range of sports and physical activities.
We believe our students will thrive through excellence due to our high-quality teaching, leadership & sporting opportunities that exist during and after school hours.
We aim to create aspirational students that foster a lifelong love of sport and physical activity that will stay with them as they grow older.
Through our sport and leadership activities we embed our core values of respect for each other and the sports that we participate in. We show pride in our own and others achievements both on and off the pitch and we have ambition to push ourselves beyond our limits in every single lesson.
Every student will participate in sport and physical activities within key subject areas such as invasion games, movement, net & wall games, hrf & leadership, striking & fielding and athletics.
Our students will experience a learning journey through Core PE that begins with creating a love for physical education by participating in a wide variety of sports, activities and challenges. We then hope to broaden their sporting experiences and embed skills, techniques and key knowledge. Finally, we hope to extend and apply that knowledge and skills into more complex situations and scenarios.
As our students reach the later years of their school life, we want them to continue to love sport and physical activity by giving them a choice of pathways to pursue to ensure they remain engaged and stimulated. By choosing a pathway from either performance, participation or healthy lifestyle, all our students can continue to broaden their sporting experiences as well as improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Through our broad and balanced 7 year physical education curriculum we will guide all students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain and improve health-related fitness as part of their commitment to lifelong healthy lifestyles.
